Junior Kiwanian Kayla Lis (November - 2016)

November Junior Kiwanian

Kayla Lis

As “a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time,” Kiwanis puts great value on the achievements of our youth and seeks out opportunities to help them succeed in their pursuits. With this mission in mind, the Neillsville Kiwanis Club proudly continues its Junior Kiwanian program which spotlights the outstanding talents, commitment, and achievements of local high school students.

The club is pleased to have Neillsville High School senior student Kayla Lis as its Junior Kiwanian for the month of November. She is the daughter of Lisa and Dean Lis and was introduced to the club at the Nov. 7 meeting.

A strong academic background, extensive participation in athletics and a commitment to volunteering characterizes this student’s high school career. She is a member of the National Honor Society, has received Academic Letters for two years, is a member of the Fine Arts Club, Spanish Club and has served four years on Student Council. In addition, she is the current yearbook editor, is involved in Youth in Action, Being Leaders and Standing Tall (BLAST) and CCD. A three-sport athlete, Lis has achieved second team all-conference in basketball and is the current team captain, has run track four years and served as captain and earned first team all-conference in cross-country. Volunteering and community service activity include blood drives, Adopt-A-House, Change of Seasons, scorekeeping and refereeing sports and waitressing at church bazaars.

Lis has plans to attend UW-La Crosse next fall to pursue a career as a physician’s assistant.

The community can take great pride in students like Kayla Lis, who use their talents to make the most of their high school years and prepare themselves to be active and productive leaders of tomorrow. The members of the club welcome her as Junior Kiwanian and wish her the best in her future.
