Soczka, David L. (1 DEC 1945 - 11 FEB 2013)

David L. Soczka, 67, Edgar, died Monday, February 11, 2013 at home.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 18, 2013 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Cassel. Rev. Barnabas Kyeah will preside. Burial will be in the parish cemetery with full military honors conducted by the American Legion, Edgar and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Edgar.

Friends may call on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the church.

Pallbearers will be a niece, Kelly Soczka, and five nephews, Scott Soczka, Cody Soczka, Tyler Bornheimer, Tim Soczka and Andy Soczka.

He was born December 1, 1945 in Wausau, son of the late Alois Sr. and Julia (Serafin) Soczka.

David was a veteran of the United States Army and served in Germany in 1968. David lived in Rockford, IL and later in Chicago, where he worked in construction and remodeling. He moved back to Edgar three years ago to be closer to his family.

Among his favorite pastimes were cooking, gardening, spending time outdoors, horse racing and watching old westerns. David enjoyed being with his family, friends and his cat "Oily".

Survivors include, nine siblings, Carl (Faith Ann) Soczka, Greenfield, WI, Theresa (Elmer) Bornheimer, Weston, Victor (Dawn) Soczka, Edgar, Alois Jr. (Jill) Soczka, Edgar, Henry Soczka, Edgar, Steven (Janice) Soczka, Edgar, Annie Mae (Tom) Kingston, Smithland, KY, John (Irene) Soczka, Edgar and Sandra (Joel) Rome, Studio City, CA; and many nieces and nephews.

Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Edgar is in charge of arrangements.
