She was born August 28, 1916 in Marathon, daughter of the late Frank and Alvina (Henke) Rajek. On January 29, 1937 she married Erwin Kage. He preceded her in death on January 15, 2001.

Evie worked at Badger Basket Factory in Edgar for 27 years. She was a kind, caring person with an ever present smile that expressed her friendly, cheerful nature. Evie always saw the bright side of things and enjoyed visits and telephone calls with family and friends. Throughout her life she loved baking, cooking and exchanging recipes with family and friends. No one was allowed to leave her home without having sampled some of her baked treats or homemade candy. She also enjoyed making arts and craft items to share and would spend hours designing and creating colorful pompon and braid rugs and beautiful patchwork quilts and pillows. Even while in assisted living, she continued to make the pillows and quilts.

Survivors include her daughters, Jean (Dean) Andrews, Jacksonville, Ill. and Shirley (Charles) Jansen, Marathon; son, Roger (Betty) Kage, Mosinee; nine grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, eight step great-grandchildren, four step great great-grandchildren; sisters, Johanna Schreier, Edgar and Dolores Lewitzke, Wausau; sister-in-law, Bertha Rajek, Marathon.

Besides her parents and husband, Erwin, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Edna Schreier and Lorraine Erdmann and two brothers, Frank and Edward Rajek.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Cedar Ridge Elder Services, Mosinee, for the wonderful care given to Evie. They also extend their sincere appreciation to Dr. David Dillon and staff at the Mosinee Clinic.
