An Iowa cheese factory Monday was picked as the winner in the National Cheddar Cheese contest held at the National Dairy Cattle Congress.

Zearing Cheese Factory, Zearing, Iowa, made a perfect score of 100 in the competition. Twenty-one cheesemakers from seven states entered blocks of cheese 30 pounds and larger.

The second place entry was Lyle S. Christensen, Foremost Blue Moon Cheese of Thorp (Clark County), Wisconsin, with 99.5 points.

Third was Farmers Mutual Co-op Creamery of Monticello, Iowa, and fourth was W.R. Manthel of Pleasant Corners Cheese Factor of Suring, Wisconsin.

The fifth place entry was Wilton Milk Products Co. of Wilton Junction, Iowa.
