Weber, Catherine (13 JAN 1864 – 05 DEC 1968)

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Bernard's Catholic Church for Clark County's eldest resident, Mrs. Max (Catherine) Weber, 104, of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), who died in her sleep Thursday morning.

The Rev. Michael Mertens, Chancellor of the La Crosse Diocese, and grandson of the deceased, officiated. Burial was in the parish cemetery.

Pallbearers were grandsons, Hugo, Bernard, Francis, Robert Mertens, great-grandsons, John and Jerome Hazuga.

The former Catherine C. Heidle was born January 13, 1864 at Charleston, Calumet County, Wisconsin, and was married February 10, 1885 to Michael Mertens, who died in Thorp in 1890. The following year she married Max Weber, and his death occurred in Thorp in 1928. Since that time she has made her home with her daughter in Thorp.

Survivors include a daughter, Miss Olga Mertens, Thorp, and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by a son and a daughter.
