Hedler, Mr./Mrs. Fred (Gold – 12 MAY 1969)

At 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 31, 1969, at St. Bernard's Catholic Church, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hedler renewed the marriage vows they made fifty years ago. Father Brockman sang the nuptial High Mass. Their attendants were the same as at their wedding on May 12, 1919. They were Mrs. Raymond Grajkowski, Miss Olive Hedler, Mr. Thomas Hedler of Thorp, and Mrs. Stella Nejmann, Miss Amelia Grabowski, Mr. Albert Jarocki of Chicago.

As Mrs. Leon Kaczmarek sang "Ave Maria," Mrs. Hedler place a sheaf of roses on the altar of the Blessed Mother.

Two Hundred fifty members of the family, friends and Neighbors witnessed the beautiful ceremony.

For this special occasion, Mrs. Hedler chose a green sheath dress with a matching lace coat and ribbon hat. She wore an orchid corsage.

After the ceremony the Hedlers were driven to the American Legion Hall in a red Model T. Ford.

The Hedler's daughter and six sons honored their parents and their guests with a wedding banquet prepared by the ladies of the American Legion Auxiliary. Each guest was presented with a gold leaf. The tables were beautifully decorated with centerpieces of gold and white Figi mums, salal leaves, and lighted yellow tapers.

Following the dinner, dancing and a mock wedding were enjoyed by the guests. An enlargement of the original wedding picture of the Hedlers and their attendants decorated one end of the dance hall.

All of the children and grandchildren of the Hedlers came for this happy event. They were: Mrs. and Al Spaete, Denise, Douglas and Dionne of Granton, Wis.; Mr. Gerald Hedler, Debbie, Michael, Theresa and Randy of Westmont, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Sylvester Hedler, Gloria and Sylvia of Minneapolis, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Donald Hedler, Judy, Janice, Kim, Laurie and Donna of Colby, Wis.; Mr. and Mrs. Francis Hedler, Dennis, Nancy, Peggy, Sally and Lynn of Thorp; Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Hedler, Diane and Sandy of Towner, North Dakota, and Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Hedler, Jeffrey, Jean, Christine and Kathy of Downers Grove, Ill.

Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hedler have lived in the Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) area all during their wedded life. Mr. Hedler was engaged in farming, cheese making and later became a New York Life Insurance agent for the past thirty years. They are members of St. Bernard's parish.

Out of town guests came from Abbotsford, Colby, Withee, Owen, Stanley, Christie, Granton, Milwaukee and Medford, Wis., Westmont, Downers Grove, Hickory Hills and Chicago, Ill., Minneapolis, Minn., and Towner, North Dakota.

The Hedlers were the recipients of many gifts and best wishes by their relatives and many friends, and neighbors.
