Olynick, Carl Paul (6 NOV 1941 - 9 FEB 2017)

Carl Paul Olynick, age 75, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by all of his family on Thursday, Feb. 9.

Carl was born November 6, 1941 to Joseph and Veronica Olynick in Taylor County. He graduated from Gilman High School in 1959 and worked driving milk truck for his big brother, John, and then decided to take over the family farm. He married Joan Potaczek July 13, 1963 in Cornell. They raised four children on the farm in Jump River, and in 1955 sold the farm and moved to Ladysmith where Carl worked driving dump truck for Russ Thompson Excavating. His illness with strokes caused him to retire.

Carl was described as a soft spoken, kind, humble man that worked very hard. He loved to bake, shop, travel, and enjoyed and loved his kids and grandkids tremendously. He will be missed by all.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Joan; three daughters; Carla (Ben) Maier of Cornell, Carolyn (Carl) Nosser of Sheldon, Connie (David) Thompson of Ladysmith; one son, Carlie (Karen) Olynick of Jump River; six grandchildren, Benjamin Maier, Tonya Nette, Kristopher Olynick, Kayla Schmitt, Charlee and Dalton Thompson; three great-grandchildren, Ali, Easton and Carly; one brother, James (Dixie) Olynick of Hawkins; and one sister, Josephine Hegeholz of Ladysmith.

He is preceded in death by his mother and father; brothers, John, Joe, Andy, Georgie; and sister, Anna.

A wake was held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 12 at Nash-Jackan Funeral Home, Ladysmith.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, Feb. 13 at Our Lady of Sorrows, Ladysmith with the viewing at 10 a.m. and service at 11 a.m. with Father John Potaczek, Father Inna Pothireddy and Deacon Craig Voldberg officiating.

He is also survived by 6 grandchildren: Benjamin Maier, Tonya Nette, Kristopher Olynick, Kayla Schmitt, Charlee and Dalton Thompson; 3 great-grandchildren: Ali, Easton and Carly, a brother James & Dixie Olynick of Hawkins and a sister Josephine Hegeholz of Ladysmith.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday; February 13th, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Sorrows Church with Fr. John Potaczek, Fr. Inna Pothireddy and Deacon Craig Voldberg officiating.

The Olynick Family will receive friends at The Nash - Jackan Funeral Home in Ladysmith on Sunday after 4:00 PM and also at the Church on Monday for an hour prior to service time.
