Hodowanic, Eugene G. (27 AUG 1939 - 15 FEB 2017)

Eugene G. Hodowanic, 77 of Stanley, died Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at his home with his family by his side under the care of home hospice.

He was born on August 27, 1939 at home in Huron to the late George and Margaret (Ouimet) Hodowanic. Gene attended Huron State Grade School-a two room red brick school. He went on to graduate from Gilman High in 1958. Gene helped run the family farm as a young man because his father died when he was 17. On October 14th, 1961 he married Barbara Schultze at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church-Stanley.

Gene worked for the Stanley Corporation for 2 years. He then started working for the City of Stanley in 1963 until his retirement in 2005. He also volunteered many hours helping with the annual Fall Festival, was instrumental on bringing the “deer” to Chapman Park and developing Hoody’s island. Gene also was a member of Huron Snow Gliders, the Stanley Fire Dept. for 25 years and was a Janitor for Our Savior’s for many years.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Barbara of Stanley, his children, Jim (Mary) Hodowanic of Cornell, Rick (Brenda) Hodowanic of Stanley, Sherry (Don) Goettl of Stanley, Diane
Hodowanic of Thorp, Pam (Loren) Luzinski of Menomonie and Kristy (Darren) Vircks of Stanley, 21 grandchildren, Jennifer (Jody) Gindt, Mike (Jaimie) Hodowanic, Nikki (Jason) Prahl, Matt (Julie Thompson) Goettl, Heather Hodowanic, Craig (Danielle) Hodowanic, Stephanie Goettl, Eric (Kelsey) Hodowanic, Zach (Tasha Murphy) Anderson, Danielle (Randy Lloyd) Anderson, Corey Hodowanic, Emily (Ben Ederer) Anderson, Jami (Jake Dusek) Hodowanic, Alex Anderson, Chloe`e (Wyatt Frazee) Anderson, Tyler Luzinski, McKenzie Vircks, Carter Luzinski, Brooklynn Vircks, Jaycie Luzinski and Alivia Vircks, 17 great grandchildren, Blake,
Kamryn, Bella, Jackson, Carson, Ava, Jamison, Gracelyn, Kamden, Addilyn, Brennan, Ryker, Brantley, Layla, Reagan, Rowan, Kason, one sister, Carol (Joe) Przewoznik of Dorchester, one brother, Kenneth (Joanne) Hodowanic of Chippewa Falls and his mother in law, Margaret Schultze of Stanley.

A funeral service will be at 11AM on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church-Stanley with Pastor Kenneth Schmidt officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery-Stanley.

Visitation will be from 4-8 PM on Friday at the Plombon Funeral Home-Stanley and Saturday morning one hour prior to services at the church.
