Anderson, Walter "Hugo" (16 AUG 1913 – 21 MAY 1972)

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 24, 1972, for (Hugo) Walter Anderson, 58, rural Spencer, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Unity. Mr. Anderson died about 1 p.m. Sunday of accidental drowning at North Twin Lake, 18 miles northwest of Medford, where he had been fishing from a boat with Donald Omelian, Spencer.

The Rev. James Primley, pastor of Trinity, officiated, and burial was made in the church cemetery. The congregation sang "Thine is the Glory, Risen, Conquering Son," "Lead Us, Oh Father, in the Paths of Peace," and "Hark, Hark! My Soul." The sermon was entitled "The Promise Fulfilled."

The pallbearers were nephews of Mr. Anderson: Roger Anderson, Wayne Anderson, Gary Krauter, Randy Westberg, Eldon Westberg, and Carl Ladwig. The Jasperson Funeral Home of Spencer was in charge of arrangements.

Walter Anderson was born August 16, 1913 in the Town of Brighton (Marathon Co., Wis.), and was married in 1939 to Lila Ladwig, who survives. The couple farmed 3 1/2 miles north of Spencer, and he also had been employed at Marshfield Home, and for the last five years had been employed at Weyerhaeuser Company in Marshfield. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Unity.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Terry W. Anderson, Colby, and Timmy, at home; two daughters, Mrs. Paul (Diana) Haustowich, Eagle, Wisconsin; and Debra, at home; four grandchildren; and two brothers, Maurice, route 2, Spencer, and Turgony Anderson, Big Bear Lake, California.

He was preceded in death by a brother.
