Klessig, Gerald L. (9 JUL 1935 - 11 MAY 2017)

Gerald L. Klessig, age 81, of Gainesville, Mo., passed away Thursday, May 11, 2017, in Springfield, Mo. He was born July 9, 1935, in Colby, Wisconsin, the son of Harold and Olive Klessig. Gerald was joined in marriage June 4, 1960, to Donna Nienow, formerly of Stratford.

Gerald proudly served the country in the U.S. Army. During his working years, he worked for the railroad. Gerald enjoyed model trains, fishing and camping. Most of all, he loved his family and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Gerald is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Donna Klessig; his daughters, Debra Andersland and husband Mike, Pamela Powers and husband Scott; a son, Matthew Klessig and wife Rachel; his grandchildren, Megan Zink and husband Elliott, Joel Andersland, Emily Andersland, Abigail Powers, Elisabeth Powers, Danial, Jacob, Isaac, Clara, Sarah, Anna, Emma and Luke Klessig; a great-granddaughter, Deborah Zink; a sister, Karen Winkler of Colby; a brother-in-law, John R. Matz, Waseca, Minn.; as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, LaVonne Matz; and two grandsons, Scott and Nathan Andersland.

A memorial service in memory of Gerald was held Monday, May 15, 2017, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mountain Home, Ark.

Arrangements and cremation were under the direction of Cremations of the Ozarks, Mo.
