Schuette, Merlin Karl (21 AUG 1924 - 24 MAY 2017)

Merlin Karl Schuette, 92, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, left his earthly home to go to his heavenly home on May 24, 2017. There he will be reunited with his wife, Florence, and daughter, Jan.

Merlin will be greatly missed by his remaining family and friends.

Merlin was born in the Town of Beaver, in Clark Country, to the late Hugo and Hulda Schuette (Ihlenfeld) on Aug. 21, 1924. Merlin attended Colby High School, graduating in 1941. He married Florence L. Miller on June 8, 1946.

After his marriage, he farmed with his wife in the Town of Beaver, in Clark County, until they moved to Abbotsford in 1959. There he worked as a meat cutter at local grocery stores. In 1968, Merlin and his family moved to Marshfield. While in Marshfield, Merlin worked at Fleming Foods (Hub City Foods) until his retirement in 1987. His major interest other than family and friends was his pride in his home and yard.

Merlin is survived by his children, Shirley (Jim) Kislow of Rothschild, Chuck Schuette of Fond du Lac, Lori (Tom) Nohelty of Madison and Joyce (Scott) Budke of Green Bay; grandchildren, Garrett (Christina) Kislow, Matthew (Kelly) Nohelty, Eric (Alyson) Nohelty, MaCall (Tyler) Lankford and Ben Budke; great-grandchildren, Megan Salisbury, Paige, Dawson and Dallas Kislow, Quinn and Jack Nohelty, Ava Miller and Brynnley Lankford. He is also survived by his sister Arlene (Calvin) Schulz; sister-in-law, Kathryn Schuette; and by numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, wife and daughter, Merlin was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn and Paul Schlinsog; brother, Orville Schuette; sister and brother-in-law, Ethel and Francis Gerber; sister-in-law, Alice, and her husband, Willard Becherer; and a niece and two nephews.

A funeral service will be held at the Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home, 1010 E. Veterans Parkway, Marshfield, on Saturday, June 3, 2017. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Burial will be at the South Green Grove Cemetery following the service and lunch.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Immanuel Lutheran Church of Marshfield.
