Carter, Barbara A. (13 OCT 1943 – 14 JUN 2017)

Barbara Ann Carter of Sunset Beach, NC, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2017, following a brief and brave battle with cancer.

She was born in Neillsville, WI, on October 13, 1943, to Ervin and Ermine Bandt.

She attended school in Marshfield, WI. She married Clayton Carter on January 6, 1962, in Marshfield, WI. Soon after, they moved to Minneapolis, MN, where Clayton accepted a position with Graco, Inc. They welcomed their sons, Anthony Jack in 1962, and Timothy Warren in 1963. Barbara was a proud homemaker who also enjoyed arts and crafts. In 1966, the family moved to Placentia, CA, following a job transfer. They had homes in Fullerton, CA and Olinda, CA, before moving back to Minnesota in 1977. Their next home was in Minnetonka, MN, where they remained until Clayton's retirement from Graco. They pursued their golden years in Sunset Beach, NC, beginning in 1999. During that time, Barbara enjoyed crossword puzzles, redecorating their homes, building doll houses for the grandkids and going on cruises with Clayton. She was a lover of animals, particularly her pets over the years which brought her great joy.

Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, as well as her brothers Marvin and Ronald Bandt, and a sister, Jeanie Roehborn. She is survived by her husband, Clayton; her sons and daughters-in-law, Tony and Andrea Carter of LaQuinta, CA and Tim and Molly Carter of Prior Lake, MN; her granddaughter and husband, Whitney and Aaron Simon of Dennison, MN, and great-grandchildren, Gaige, Brylee and William; and grandkids Shannah and Trevor Carter of Prior Lake, MN; and Alexa and Halle Carter of La Quinta, CA; as well as her sister, Eleanor and husband Ray Griep of Marshfield, WI; her sister-in-law, Sally and husband George Sparages of Amery, WI, along with several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, 950 48th Avenue North, Suite 101, Myrtle Beach, SC 29577 or Lower Cape Fear Hospice/Mercy Care, 955 Mercy Lane, Bolivia, NC 28422.
