USS Enterprise, Oct. 21, 1969 – Interior Communication Electrician 3rd Class Daniel L. Fischer, USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Fischer of route 1, Dorchester (Clark Co., Wis.), is serving aboard the nuclear powered aircraft carrier, USS Enterprise, at Newport News, Virginia.

The Enterprise, world's largest warship, is currently undergoing an extensive overhaul at Newport News. During this overhaul the ship's eight nuclear cores are being replace. The new cores will have a life of more than 10 years.

The Enterprise returned to the U.S. following its fourth cruise to the Gulf of Tonkin off the coast of Vietnam.
