Wysocki, Mr. and Mrs. Anselm (Golden – 12 August 1974)

Mr. and Mrs. Anselm Wysocki, Neillsville residents since 1963, will be honored Sunday with an open house from 2-4 p.m. at the Wildcat Inn in observance of their 50th wedding anniversary. The Wysocki’s were married August 12, 1924, at Holy Name Church, Sheboygan, by Msgr. Thill.

Mrs. Wysocki, the former Hildegarde LaFond, was born in Two Rivers and moved to Sheboygan at the age of six. After graduating from high school there she attended the Milwaukee normal school, then taught four years before her marriage. She resumed her teaching career in 1944 and continued in that field until her retirement in 1963.

Anselm Wysocki is a native of the community of Ellis, near Stevens Point. He attended area schools, then entered military service during WWI, and served with the U. S. forces overseas for approximately two and one-half years. Upon his return to civilian life, he entered Stevens Point normal school where he was an outstanding athlete, excelling in a variety of sports. He taught for two years prior to his marriage.

After their marriage, the couple lived in Milwaukee for a year and he attended Marquette University. They resided in Sheboygan from 1925-1948. For a number of years, Mr. Wysocki was employed by the Kohler Company. In 1944, he, too, returned to the field of education when he accepted a position as principal at Howards Grove, near Sheboygan.

The Wysocki’s moved to Pittsville in 1948. There, he served as principal, and she taught high school English. They moved to Gratiot, where Mr. Wysocki was principal of the high school, in 1952. Again, Mrs. Wysocki was employed as a teacher.

Both retired from the Gratiot school system in 1963. The couple moved to Neillsville in order that he could take advantage of the area’s hunting and fishing facilities, and that they could be near their daughter, Mrs. W. C. Koehler, and her family, residents of the city at that time.

Throughout her lifetime, Mrs. Wysocki has been deeply interested in and has greatly enjoyed the field of drama. Her career as a teacher often included activities as a drama coach. While the family live in Sheboygan, she, was instrumental in the organization of the Sheboygan, Community Players, and took an active part in all phases of its activity.

Also during their years in Sheboygan, Mr. Wysocki served as commander of the local VFW post and was an active member of that organization. Among his favorite activities nowadays is his hobby of gardening.

The Wysocki’s are parents of two children. Their daughter and son-in-law, the Rev. and mrs. W. C. (Betty) Koehler, now live in Monroe. The Koehlers have two sons, Erich and Matthew. Their son and daughter-in-law, and family, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Wysocki and daughters, Jackie, Michelle, Jeannine, and Deanna, ae residents of Wayzata, Mn.

Their children are hosting the open house Sunday. Other anniversary activities will include a 10:30 a.m. Mass at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Neillsville.
