Tichy, Robert E. “Bob” (8 October 1936 – 19 November 2017) With Flag

Robert E. “Bob” Tichy, 81, Marshfield, died on Sunday, November 19, 2017 at his home in the Town of Day, Marathon County.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 25, 2017, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Town of McMillan, Marathon County, with Rev. Douglas Westenberg officiating. American Legion Post #54 will conduct military rites at the church following the service. Burial will take place in the Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery, Globe (in Clark County). The visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday at Sauter/Rembs Funeral Home, Stratford, and from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Saturday at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church.

Bob was born on October 8, 1936 in Black River Falls, to Stephen and Margaret (Newton) Tichy. He was a 1955 graduate of Loyal High School.

Bob was a veteran of the United States Navy serving on the USS Orion from 1959 until his honorable discharge in 1961.

Bob spent many years farming alongside his father in the Loyal area where he started his family. He eventually purchased a hobby farm north of Marshfield, and began his 35-year career at Stratford Farmer’s Co-op.

Bob enjoyed working hard for both his family and for his community. He served as the Town of Day Treasurer for many years, was an active member of the Rozellville Lions Club, and spent countless hours volunteering at Rozellville area events.

On April 20, 1990, Bob married the love of his life, Rita G. Patterson Bieneck. The two could be found working side by side in their impressive garden, enjoying campgrounds across the state or treasuring every opportunity to see their grandchildren in their numerous athletic and artistic activities. When you couldn’t find them there, it was because they were on one of their worldwide travels having visited over 12 countries, making new life-long friendships, and especially cherishing time abroad with family.

Bob is survived by his wife Rita and children, Beth Tichy of Chili, Vince (Jeannie) Tichy of Stratford, Tom (Tammy) Bieneck of Auburndale, Tim (Cori) Bieneck of Whitewater, Lori (Jerry) Rozek of Stevens Point, Mary (Mike) Bohlman of Stevens Point, and Eric (Marnie) Hansen of Marshfield. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. He is further survived by 2 sisters, Carlotta (Gene) Romsos of Sarona, WI, and Elvina (Richard) Thompson of Rochester, MN, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Condolences may be sent online to www.remgbsfh.com.
