LePage, Arthur R. “Snooky” (11 December 1938 – 3 December 2017)

Arthur R. “Snooky” LePage, 78 of Withee passed away unexpectedly Sunday, Dec. 3, 2017, at his home.

Snooky was born Dec. 11, 1938, in Superior, the son of Edward and Delia (Yates) LePage. He enlisted in the U. S. Army Jan. 10, 1956, and was honorably discharged in June 1958. Arthur “Snooky” LePage and Betty Missling were united in marriage Dec. 19, 1959, in Wheeling, IL. She preceded him in death March 23, 2003.

Snooky drove truck for Foremost Foods, and worked for Freeport Solo in Withee. He bought his own semi, and was an owner-operator for Nationwide Carriers, and JB Hunt. Later, he drove with his wife as a team for 10 years. Snooky served as Chief of Police in Withee for 10 years. He enjoyed going to the casinos, gambling, fishing, camping, deer hunting, and an occasional trip to Texas to hunt rattlesnakes.

Snooky is survived by his daughter, Lori (Mark) Dawson of Neillsville; son Rick (Bruna) LePage of Helena, MT; seven grandchildren: Tasha (Esten Staab) LePage, Joshua (Nicole) LePage, Brandon (Mary) Dawson, Shane (Wendi Schmidt) Dawson, Keith (Elizabeth) Dawson, Luke (Kayla) Dawson, and Raeann Dawson; five great-grandchildren: Royce Dawson, Olivia Jane Dawson, Barrett Dawson, Celeste Dawson, and Athena LePage. He is further survived by his siblings: Jerome (Sheila) LePage, Barbara (James) Maurina, Dianne (Michael Glynn) LePage, and Nancy (Bill) Telfor; and a special friend, Barb Blumenstein.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Betty.

A Funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Friday Dec. 8, 2017, at Saint John’s Lutheran Church in Withee. Reverend Tom Myhre officiated. Interment followed at Riverside Cemetery in Withee with full military honors conducted by the Owen American Legion Post #123, Lublin American Legion Post #547, and the Owen Vets Club.

Serving as pallbearers were: George Cordwell, Luke Dawson, Shane Dawson, Brandon Dawson, Keith Dawson, and Joshua LePage.

Family and friends were welcomed Thursday, Dec. 7, 2017, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Owen, and Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church.
