Kaska-Dresel, Mavis “Mickie” Jean (Kaska) (4 FEB 1931 - 29 DEC 2017)

Mavis “Mickie” Jean Kaska-Dresel, 86, Muldraugh, Ky. and formally of Cadott, left this earth Friday, Dec. 29, 2017, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown, Ky.

Mickie was born Feb. 4, 1931, to James and Elizabeth (Kintler) Kaska, in the home of her grandparents, Joseph and Katherine Kaska.

Her parents built Pike Lake Resort & Ballroom. Mickie lived with her Uncle Matt and Aunt Helen while attending Cadott High School and college.

Mickie married Robert “Bob” J. Dresel June 9, 1951, in Jim Falls, at the United Methodist Church. She moved to Muldraugh, Ky. in 1952, to be with Bob, who was in the Army serving at Fort Knox, Kentucky.

Later, she and Bob started and managed several small businesses, which included Dresel’s Car Wash and Dresel’s Rentals. They enjoyed spending time together, traveling and going on fishing trips.

Mickie’s world was turned upside down April 3, 1974, when Bob was killed in a tornado in Brandenburg, Ky. With the help of her children, determination and dedication, Mickie would persevere in running the small businesses they built together.

She is survived by her daughter – Denise Kay Stark (Bert); two sons – Dean R. Dresel (Carol) and Daniel J. Dresel (Dawn Ferguson); nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; cousin – Patty Hrdlicka; brothers-in-law – Howard Dresel and Jim Sedlacek; sisters-in-law – Lois Kaska, Arlene Dresel, Alice Goodmanson, Carol Secraw and Carol Dresel; and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by husband – Robert J. Dresel, formerly of Jim Falls; parents, James and Elizabeth (Kintler) Kaska; brother – Delbert Kaska; uncle Joseph (Joey) Kintler; uncle Matt and aunt Helen Turecek; uncle Joe and aunt Lucille Kaska; father-in-law – Herman Dresel; mother-in-law – Viola (Bailey) Dresel; brothers-in-law – Kenneth and Carl Dresel; nephew Randall Dresel; and other relatives.

Services were held at Hardy/Advantage Funeral Home in Valley Station, Ky. Visitation was Friday, Jan. 5, from 2-8 p.m.

The funeral was held Saturday, at the funeral home at 11 a.m., with graveside services immediately following at Bethany Cemetery.
