Turek, Todd Allen (23 AUG 1962 - 11 JAN 2018)

Todd Allen Turek, 55, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018, with his wife Lisa by his side. For the past three years, he had fought a courageous battle with cancer.

Todd was born on Aug. 23, 1962 in Stanley to Edward and Phyllis (Jessick) Turek. He attended Gilman Schools and graduated in 1981. He later attended Chippewa Valley Technical College in Eau Claire for truck driving. After completing that program, he drove over the road semi and log truck. He later found his place with the School District of Gilman for 30 years as a custodian, before ill health required early retirement. Todd was also a bus driver for the school district. He married Elizabeth Winger on Feb. 14, 1990 and they later divorced.

Todd was proud to serve the Gilman Fire Department for 25 years and was also employed at Gilman Forest Products. Todd kept very busy helping many area residents with lawn mowing and snow removal. He was always a kind and caring man who never hesitated to help other when he could.

Todd is survived by his loving wife, Lisa; two sons, Donovan Turek of Gilman and Bo Turek of Medford; stepsons, LCPL Jonathan Rucks of Okinawa, Japan and Andrew Rucks of Gilman; and one stepdaughter, Frances Rucks of Cornell. He is further survived by his mother, Phyllis Turek of Gilman; two brothers, David (Louise) Turek of Elk Mound and Dennis Turek of Gilman; two sisters, Sheila Weinrich of Kan.; and Sherri Wiley of Texas.

Todd was preceded in death by his father, Edward Turek.

To honor Todd’s final wishes no funeral services will be held. A celebration of Todd’s life will be scheduled at a later date.

The family would like to thank Chippewa Valley Cremation Services of Altoona and Hope Hospice of Medford for their assistance.

“Rest in peace, our dear Todd. You put up a good fight.”
