Sachs, Norene A. (Marriage – 26 October 1974)

St. John’s Lutheran Church, Withee was the setting Saturday October 26, for the 3 p.m. wedding ceremony of Miss Norene A. Sachs, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Otto C. Sachs, Withee, and Carl D. Thorne, son of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Thorne, Rt. 2 Owen.

The Rev. Douglas Groenewold officiated, and Mrs. Bert Everts played the organ and accompanied the singing of Louise Luedke.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, designed a gown of couture crepe featuring iris hand beading. Her headpiece was a design of stephanotis. She carried a cascade of white cymbidium orchids, stephanotis and star flowers with trailing ivy surrounded by caladium foliage.

Bridal aids were Miss Shirley Packowski, Withee, maid-of-honor, Mrs. Phyllis Wilson, Owen, and Mrs. LaVonn Burky, Stanley. Their gowns of tiffany crepe were designed by the bride in fall hues of gold, moss and orange. Each carried a fall-toned bouquet of bronze, yellow and tangerine poms with preserved leaves and baby’s breath.

Attendants for the groom were John Volk, Owen, bestman, Dennis Wilson and Dave Gosse, also of Owen. Warren Sachs, Greenwood, and Jerry Nowak, Owen, seated guests.

A reception was held at the church, with dinner served at 4 p.m. an evening dance at The Sword, Colby, featured music by the Harmony Goldtones.

The bride a 1969 graduate of Owen-Withee High School, is employed by a Thorp insurance corporation. Her husband graduated from Own-Withee High School in 1968, served in the U. S. Navy four years, and is presently employed in the logging business.

Following a honeymoon in southern Wisconsin, the Thornes will make their home north of Owen.
