Morning, Wilfred “Willie” J. (25 DEC 1929 - 13 FEB 2018)

COLFAX, Wisconsin — Wilfred “Willie” J. Morning, age 88, passed away peacefully at his home with his family by his side on Tuesday February 13, 2018.

He was born on December 25, 1929, to Charles and Minnie (Barfknecht Coleman) Morning in Ladysmith, Wisconsin. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He married Iylah Rudie on July 25, 1953, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bloomer, Wisconsin. Willie worked as a farmer and milk hauler, but his true love was driving truck and being on the road.

He was a draft horse enthusiast, taking his team to parades all across the Midwest and enjoyed giving wagon and sleigh rides. Willie delivered Meals On Wheels for many years, traveling all across the country to be sure everyone who needed a meal got one, even if that meant buying them food out of his own pocket. He was a good man who will truly be missed.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years: Iylah; children: David, Don (Linda), Nancy (Ken) Wittmer, Diane (Bob) Higbie, Ron (Patty), Robert (Joli) and Steve (Heidi); 21 grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren; sisters in-law: Rose Coleman and Elizabeth “Babe” and Deloris Morning; numerous nieces nephews other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents Charles and Minnie; brothers: William Coleman, Charles, John and infant Merton Morning; sisters: Inez Blank, Doris Marx and infant Mary Anne Coleman

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2018, at 2:30 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bloomer with a visitation from 12:00-2:30 at the church before the service. Interment will be in the Auburn Cemetery with military honors performed by the Bloomer American Legion and VFW.
