Whittenberger, Charles "Chuck" (15 MAY 1939 - 22 FEB 2018)

Charles "Chuck" Whittenberger 78, of Ladysmith passed away at home on Thursday February 22nd, 2018. Chuck has joined his wife Pat in his eternal home.

Chuck is survived by his children Linda (Bob) Volkman of Clarksville Tennessee, Russ Whittenberger (Kay) of Ladysmith, Brian (Monica) Whittenberger of Osceola and Bob (Kay) Whittenberger of St. Croix Falls, 10 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

Chuck has been preceded in death by his parents LeRoy and Opal Whittenberger, his brother Russell Whittenberger, sister Beulah and grandson Matthew Whittenberger.

There will be a visitation at the Our Lady of Sorrows Church on Monday February 26th from 1:00 P.M to 4:00 P.M. with a full Catholic funeral service beginning at 4:00 P.M.

Charles “Chuck” L. Whittenberger Jr., age 78, of Ladysmith, died on Thursday, Feb. 22, 2018 in Ladysmith.

Chuck was born May 15, 1939, in Ladysmith, to Charles Sr. "Roy" and Opal (Stockberger) Whittenberger.

Chuck married Charlotte "Pat" Webster of Rice Lake on Oct. 19, 1957 in Lino Lakes, Minn. He attended school in Ladysmith until the ninth grade. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in November of 1956 and was stationed at Fort Knox, Kentucky, where he attended basic combat training, becoming a marksman and squad leader. After transferring to the Wisconsin Army National Guard, he then joined the U.S. Air Force in December 1957. He trained as an Aircraft Electronics Specialist at Sheppard AFB in Wichita Falls, Texas. He was stationed at Schilling AFB in Salina, Kansas and was honorably discharged on May 18, 1959.

He went on to own many small businesses, to include, Kirby vacuum sales, Phillips 66 Service Station owner, and independent driver/contractor for Fernstrom Trucking which covered a five-state area for IBM machine deliveries. Later, he owned a diesel repair business and Whittenberger Auto Sales and Repair in Ladysmith. He also worked for the Ladysmith School District as a custodian prior to retiring in 2004.

He is survived by his four children, Linda (Robert) Volkman of Clarksville Tenn., Russell Whittenberger of Ladysmith, Brian (Monica) Whittenberger of Osceola and Robert (Kay) Whittenberger of St. Croix Falls. He leaves behind 10 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leroy and Opal Whittenberger; his wife, Pat Whittenberger; his siblings, Russell and Beulah and his grandson, Matthew.

During his retirement he loved to fish with Pat and his grand and great-grandkids. He enjoyed traveling to see his extended family, entertaining at family reunions as the auctioneer, fishing with his brothers in Canada and his morning coffee with his friends at McDonalds.

He was a world class jokester. He loved his friends and family and will be truly missed.

Funeral services were held on Monday, Feb. 26 at Our Lady of Sorrows Church with Deacon Craig Voldberg officiating.

Interment will take place on a later date in Tony.

Nash-Jackan Funeral Home assisted with arrangements.
