Navy Petty Officer 3/C Dennis Bredlau returned to his ship, the U.S.S. Forrest Sherman at Newport, Rhode Island, after spending a 10 day leave with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Bredlau.

Upon arriving back at his ship, he was informed that he had been accepted in the Navy Training School at Great Lakes Training Center, Ill., starting December 12, 1970. He will take a five month training course in electronics and computers.

For the past 18 months Dennis has been working with ship communications aboard the destroyer Forrest Sherman. During this time he has made a Mediterranean cruise, a Caribbean cruise, worked with the U.S. Coast Guard on hurricane rescue missions, and most recently returned from a 5 month European cruise. On this cruise the Forresst Sherman took part in several war maneuvers with ships of the NATO forces. Also while on the cruise he has the opportunity to visit many interesting cities in Spain, Portugal, France, Germany, Scotland, Norway and Finland.
