Falk, Vanja G. (Danielson) (19 SEP 1904 - 22 OCT 2005)

Vanja G. Falk, 101, Rib Lake, formerly of Prentice, died October 22, 2005, at Rib Lake Health Care Center.

She was born September 19, 1904, in Ogema, to Olaf and Emma Danielson. She attended Pinewood Graded School in Ogema township and then helped her mother, who was disabled, and her father on the family farm.

In 1931, she moved to Chicago. On July 22, 1933, she was united in marriage to Einer Wilhelm Falk and she was a homemaker. The couple moved back to Ogema in 1935 to the family dairy farm and took care of her father, farming until retiring in 1975.

She was a member of First Lutheran Church, Ogema, was a cook for many years for the Ogema Lion's Club, a member of the Ladies Aid and the Martha Circle at church, as well as being the treasurer for the Martha Circle for many years. She was also involved with the Log Cabin Historical Society & Museum.

She enjoyed quilting, tatting, playing the violin, her cows and cats, preparing limpa bread, potato sausage, pepperkaka and Swedish spritz cookies as well as almond bread and also visiting with neighbors.

She is survived by one son, Verner (Marjorie), Monticello, Ill.; by four grandchildren, Ron (Brenda) Falk, Monticello, Ill., Nancy (Ken) Manthis, Coon Rapids, Minn., Karen (Frank) Hardimon, Seymour, Ill., and Susie (Bob) Janis, White Heath, Ill.; by 11 great-grandchildren; and by nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband, Einer; by three brothers, Oswald (Grace), Gideon (Lillie), and Carroll (Edna); and by two sisters, Estelle Danielson and Evelyn (Oscar) Nelson.

Funeral services were held Oct. 26 at First Lutheran Church with Rev. Bob Giese officiating. Interment was in Hillside Cemetery, Ogema.

Pallbearers were Ron Falk, Ken Manthis, Frank Hardimon, Bob Janis, Andrew Falk and Jason Hardimon.

Dallmann-Kniewel Funeral Home of Rib Lake and Medford assisted the family with arrangements.
