Schwark, Melvin Roy (9 JUN 1949 - 9 MAY 2014)

Melvin Roy Schwark, a resident of Wasco, Oregon formerly of Lyle, Washington died May 9, 2014. Mel was born in Wisconsin to Lucille Beneke and Clarence Schwark Sr. on June 9, 1949 and was 64 at the time of his passing.

Mel served in the United States Air Force as a chief mechanic. He spent many years as a long haul truck driver and mover and was able to see all of the continental 48 states. He spent the last 16 years driving semi for J & L Transport and JWR Trucking Company.

Mel’s desire to be useful, reliable and helpful was equally matched by his kind, humble and gentle character. This was a guy who could strap a refrigerator to his back and haul it up a flight of stairs. Then set it down to help hold a grandbaby and pet the dog that was desperately vying for his attention. He was completely adored by his friends and family.

Mel is predeceased by parents, Lucille Beneke & Clarence Schwark; brother, Ray; and sister, Lucille. He is survived by brothers; Clarence Jr., and Arthur; sister, Evelyn Yahr; further survived by his son Steve and wife, Kristen Schwark; grandchildren Aiden, Nolen and Coen; ex-spouse, Teresa Everist and children Jennifer Case and husband, Arnie, son Tenneyson, James Howitz and son Taaun of Vancouver, WA. We would also like to mention the friends who were as close as family he leaves behind, John & Laurie Williams and their children.

Memorial services will be held at Bob’s Texas T-Bone (101 E 1st St, Rufus, OR 97050) at 11:00 am, Saturday May 17, 2014.

Arrangements are under the direction of Anderson's Tribute Center (Funerals • Receptions • Cremations) 1401 Belmont Avenue, Hood River, Oregon 97031 – (541) 386-1000.
