Shirley, Amy Jo (Lund) (24 DEC 1926 - 21 APR 2018)

Amy Jo Shirley, 70 of Ladysmith, died on Saturday, April 21st, 2018, at her home.

She is survived by her husband, George, 4 sons, Joe Snell and Timothy Seitz both of Edgerton, Cody Shirley of Ladysmith and Roland Shirley of Lakewood, WA; 1 step-son, Mark Shirley of White Pine, MI; 4 daughters, Terri Brick of Hayward, Tammy Williams of Tacoma, WA., Sara Shirley of Rice Lake and Tara Shirley of Sheboygan, 3 step-daughters, Marcia Sadowski and Linda Gruenhagen both of Rice Lake and Lisa Johanson of Oconomowoc; 31 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services for Amy Shirley will be held at 11 AM on Friday, April 27th, at Nash-Jackan Funeral Home in Ladysmith with Rev. Bruce Fredrickson officiating. Amy’s family will receive friends from 10 AM until service time on Friday at the funeral home.

Amy Jo Shirley, 70, of Ladysmith, died on Saturday, April 21, 2018 following medical complications from a 10-year illness.

Amy was born on May 21, 1947, in Richland Center, to Avis J. Larson and Roland “Blackie” Lund. She married George Shirley in Minong on April 16, 1988 and came to Rusk County in 1998.

Amy was an avid gardener. She loved to play in the dirt. She and George were foster parents to 86 children over the years. She was an animal lover and enjoyed watching the birds and wildlife in her yard. She also loved painting ceramics and was the rock of our family.

Amy is survived by her sons, Joe (Janel) Snell of Edgerton, Timothy Seitz of Edgerton, Roland Shirley of Lakewood, Wash. and Cody (Misty) Shirley of Ladysmith, and her stepson Mark (Cindy) Shirley of White Pine, Mich. She is also survived by her daughters, Terri (Bill) Brick of Hayward, Tammy Williams of Tacoma, Wash., Sara (Trenton) Shirley of Rice Lake and Tara Shirley of Sheboygan and step-daughters Marcia (Jerry) Sadowski of Rice Lake, Linda Gruenhagen of Rice Lake and Lisa (Joel) Johansen of Oconomowoc. She is further survived by 31 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three brothers and three sisters.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Jeffrey Snell.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 27 at Nash-Jackan Funeral Home in Ladysmith with Rev. Bruce Fredrickson officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 a.m. until the service time at the funeral home.
