Kugel, Marjorie A. (Orth) (12 JUN 1921 - 8 JUN 2018)

Marjorie A. Kugel, 96, of Watertown, passed away on Friday, June 8, 2018, at Mueller Apartments in Watertown.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, June 14, 2018, at 11 a.m. at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Watertown with Father Patrick Wendler presiding. Burial will take place on Friday at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Colby. Family and friends may gather at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Bernard Catholic Church, American Cancer Society, The Heart Fund or the charity of one’s choice.

Hafemeister Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Watertown is serving the family.

Marjorie Ann Orth was born on June 12, 1921, in Abbotsford, the daughter of George and Anna (Domer) Orth. She married Ernest Kugel in 1940 at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Abbotsford. Ernest preceded her in death in 1990. After their marriage, Marjorie and Ernest moved to Milwaukee where they lived for 30 years. After retirement, they moved to Gresham and built a home on Lower Red Lake. Marjorie lived there for 20 years. In 1996, she moved to Watertown.

In Gresham she was a member of St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church. While in Watertown, she was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church. Marjorie loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She enjoyed fishing with her husband, tending to her flower gardens, bird watching, playing cards, doing puzzles and volunteering at Gresham Catholic Church and Karl Fischer Center in Watertown. She was an avid Green Bay Packer and Milwaukee Brewer fan.

Marjorie is survived by her children, Nancy (Ronald) Smith, Cheryl Kugel and Joseph (Susan) Kugel; grandchildren, Susan (Ron) Johnson, Connie Smith, John (Keri) Smith, Tammie (Jason) Thorman, Michele Vahl, Marjorie (Pat) Long, Lisa (Kurt) Lemminger, Joan (Bill) Punzel and Thomas (Michele) Kugel; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Ermine Singstock; as well as nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

She was further preceded in death by her parents; sister, Marie Raeshler; brothers, Myron Orth and Raymond Orth; infant grandsons, Michael and Mark Smith; sons-in-law, Robert Vahl and Myron Choquette; as well as dear friends, Jim and Adele Stone.
