Jane A. Ashbeck, 92, Greenwood, passed away on Friday, June 15, 2018, at Atrium of Marshfield. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date.

Jane Arlene Gilbertson was born on July 7, 1925, in Granton, to Irwin and Gertrude (nee Ziebell) Gilbertson. She was raised and received her education in Granton and graduated from Granton High School in 1943. After high school, Jane worked in Granton at the grocery store and then later at J.C. Penney’s in Marshfield. She married Richard T. Ashbeck Sr. on Aug. 7, 1945, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greenwood. They resided north of Greenwood, owning and operating Hemlock Cheese Factory for 37 years until retiring in 1982. After the death of her husband on June 18, 1983, Jane worked several years at Figi’s and Younker’s in Marshfield. In 2003, she moved to Loyal, where she resided until entering Atrium of Marshfield in December 2016. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and St. Ann’s Society for many years, until moving to Loyal in 2003 and becoming a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. Jane had many interests, but especially loved spending time with her family and friends, bowling, and playing cards.

She will be dearly missed by her daughter: Linda (Edward) Volovsek of Willard; 12 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; two daughters-in-law: Carol Ashbeck of Edgar, and Barbara Ashbeck of Greenwood; two sisters-in-law: Joyce Gilbertson of Rockford, Ill., and Dorothy Gilbertson of Granton; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
