Thoma, Una (2 December 1888 – 9 March 1975)

Word has been received here concerning the death of Mrs. Una Worswick Thoma, 86, of Roswell, N.M., widow of the late Paul Thoma. Mrs. Thoma died March 9 at the Eastern New Mexico medical center. Services were conducted March 11 from the First Presbyterian Church in Roswell with the Rev. Jim Bruening officiating. Burial was March 12 in the Evergreen Cemetery in Colorado Springs, Co.

Mrs. Thoma, the daughter of Robert, Sr., and Julia Frances (Huff) Dakens, was born December 2, 1888, in Leonardville, Ks. She was married to Ray Curtis Worswick, who died in 1936. She later married Paul Thoma of Roswell who preceded her in death on August 29, 1966.

Mrs. Thoma attended Manhattan Agricultural College in Manhattan, Ks., and the Colorado Stat School of Education, and also studied music at Colorado College. A member of the Roswell First Presbyterian Church and a charter member of the Roswell Women’s Club, she had lived in Roswell and New Mexico for the past 63 years.

Surviving, are two step-daughters: Miss Paulyne Thoma of Roswell and Mrs. Marie Neely of Lovington, N.M.; and one sister, Mrs. Gordon P. Tompkins of Roswell.
