Speich, Doris Louise (Becker) (4 SEP 1929 - 27 OCT 2018)

Doris Louise Speich, 89, Phillips, Town of Worcester, died in the Marshfield Medical Center in Marshfield, Wisconsin, on Saturday, October 27, 2018.

She was born in Marshfield, Wisconsin, on September 4, 1929, the daughter of John and Louise (Krings) Becker. She was married to Alfred Speich in Saint John’s Lutheran Church in Auburndale, Wisconsin, on April 18, 1952.

In her early life she worked as a dairy farmer, and then for 35 years as an Assistant Cheese Maker, and then in the later years in the waxing and packaging department of Carrvalley Cheese until the time of her retirement. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Phillips. She was recently recognized by the Wisconsin Lakes Partnership for her work during the last 15 years on water clarity monitoring. In her free time she enjoyed playing card and dice games, car rides, cooking and baking, and feeding and watching wildlife.

She is survived by Alfred, her husband of 66 years; by one daughter, Deborah (Jon) Brantmeyer, Reedsburg, WI; by one son, Alfred Jr. “Butch” (Sandra), Sullivan, WI; by four grandchildren, Alynn, Lee, Wil, and Andrew; and by two great grandchildren, Theron and Maty Jo; and by one sister, Jenny Blomberg, Sauk City, WI.

She is preceded in death by five brothers, Emery, Art, Ernest, Melvin, and Lloyd Becker; and by four sisters, Myrtle Trachte, Evelyn Cutler, Bernice Lang, and infant Arlene.

Memorial services will be held at 6:00 P.M. on Saturday, November 3, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Phillips with Pastor John Trewyn officiating. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 5:00 P.M. until the time of services.

The family suggests that memorials take the form of an offering to Trinity Lutheran Church in Doris’s name.
