Therese left July 2, 1974 to stay with Mr. and Mrs. Marco Vagras from July 3 until August 5. The father was a lawyer and her mother a Doctor. The family had five children, five children, Juan 14, Fernando, 14, Marco Junior 15, Liliana 17, and Maria 18.

When Therese arrived it was summer vacation, so instead of going to school, she traveled around Ecuador. The second family Therese stayed with was Mr. and Mrs. Jorge Castro. She moved to their home on August 5. Mr. Castro owned a chain of hardware stores.

With her second family, Therese climbed Pickincha, which is one of the mountains in the Andes chain. This family lived only four blocks from (the rest of my copy was cut off)
