Boxrucker, Jacob L. "Jake" (26 APR 1895 – 28 JAN 1973)

Jacob "Jake" L. Boxrucker of Owen (Clark Co., Wis.), died Sunday morning at his home in Colby of an apparent heart attack. Funeral services were held yesterday (Wednesday) morning at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Stetsonville, with Rev. Andrew Berthold officiating. Burial took place in Stetsonville Catholic Cemetery.

Mr. Boxrucker, who was 77 at the time of his death, was a former businessman in Stetsonville, having operated "Jakes" Tavern there for years.

The body lay in state at Hemer Funeral Home, Medford, from Tuesday afternoon until time of services. Rosary devotions were held tuess
Evening. Serving as pallbearers were grandchildren, Jeffery and Joseph Boxrucker, Allen Blasel, Ronald, Gary and Daniel Dums.

Mr. Boxrucker was born April 26, 1895, in the town of Medford. He received his education at Holy Rosary Catholic School, Medford. His marriage to Elizabeth Schumacher took place September 16, 1916 at Dorchester. Mrs. Boxrucker preceded him in death October 23, 1964.

He farmed in the town of Medford until after his marriage, and then moved to a farm in the Town of Mayville, Clark County. In 1935 he purchased a tavern in Stetsonville, operating it until his retirement in 1961. He was past president of the Taylor County Tavern League, a past member of the Stetsonville Fire Department, and a member of Sacred Heart parish. After the death of his wife, Mr. Boxrucker moved to Colby.

Survivors include four sons, Aloysious of Owen, Raymond and Clarence of Stetsonville, and Edward of Medford; two daughters, Leona, Mrs. Ed Blasel of Stetsonville, and Delores, Mrs. Adolph Dums of Colby; 24 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; two brothers, John of Abbotsford, and Joseph of Colby, and a sister, Mrs. Martha Simerson of Milwaukee.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Boxrucker was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.
