On May 25, 1939, Verna was united in marriage to Richard E. Schmidt at St. Peter Lutheran Parsonage in Dorchester. She worked at Danielsen’s Cleaners and was a cook at Dorchester Memorial Hall. She was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church.

Verna was an accomplished seamstress and had many customers whom she enjoyed knowing and sewing for. She could fix almost anything and make it fit right. She enjoyed playing pool, being up north at the cabin, dancing and polka music, and traveling and her many relatives and friends. She will be missed a lot by her family.
