Gronek, Stella (11 OCT 1905 – 14 APR 1974)

Funeral services were held on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. from St. Bernard's Catholic Church, Abbotsford for Mrs. Stella Gronek, 68, of Abbotsford (Clark Co., Wis.),, who died Sunday morning at the home of her daughter in Chicago, where she had gone Thursday to spend the Easter holiday.

The Rev. Emil Hodnik, pastor, officiated at Thursday rites, and burial was made in St. Hedwig's Catholic Cemetery, Thorp.

The former Stella Pawlak was born October 11, 1905 in Pennsylvania, and was married to Stanley Gronek, who precieded her in death, in 1860. The couple had farmed in the Withee and Curtiss area prior to coming to Abbotsford in 1958.

She was a member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church, its Altar Society, and the Clovernook Homemakers Club.

Surviving her are two sons, Edward, Chicago, and John, California; three daughters, Mrs. Ed (Sophie) Filipiak and Mrs. Tony (Helen) Polski, both of Chicago, and Mrs. Clemence (Rose) Gralak, Dorchester; two brothers, Steve Pawlak, Withee, and Mike Pawlak, Oak Lawn, Illinois; 12 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death, in addition to her husband, were there children, three brothers and a sister.

Gronek, Stella (11 Oct 190 – 14 Apr 1974)

Mrs. Stella Gronek, 68, of Abbotsford, died at the home of her daughter in Chicago, Easter Sunday morning.

Funeral services will be held today, Thursday, April 18, ten a.m., at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Abbotsford, with Rev. Emil Hodnik officiating. Burial will be made in St. Hedwig’s Cemetery, Thorp. Rosary was said at eight p.m. Wednesday, April 17 at the Polnaszek Funeral Home, Abbotsford.

Stella Pawlak was born in Pennsylvania October 11, 1905. She was married to Stanley K. Gronek, who preceded her in death in 1960. They farmed in the Withee area and Curtiss area and moved to Abbotsford in 1958.

Surviving are two sons, Edward of Chicago and John of California; three daughters, (Sophie) Mrs. Ed Filipiak, (Helen) Mrs. Tony Polak, both of Chicago, (Rose) Mrs. Clemence Grajak of Dorchester; twelve grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Steve Pawlak, Withee, Mike Pawlak of Oak Lawn, Illinois.

Besides being preceded by her husband, she also was preceded in death by three children, three brothers and one sister.
