Sheets, Carl D. (21 OCT 1889 – 17 MAY 1974)

Funeral services for Carl D. Sheets, 84, route 1, Curtiss (Clark Co., Wis.), were held Monday, May 20, 1974 at 1 p.m. at St. Paul's American Lutheran Church in Curtiss.


Mr. Sheets passed away at 9:15 a.m. Friday, May 17, 1974 at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield, where he had been hospitalized since the 13th of May.

The Rev. Roger Tellock, pastor, officiated at Monday's service, and burial was made in the Norwegian Lutheran Cemetery, Curtiss.

Serving as pallbearers were Earl Schiszik, Eino Walkama, Tawame Ridpath, Franz Peissig, Jake Johnson and Clarence Geary.

Mr. Sheets was born October 21, 1889 at Columbus Grove, Ohio. He attended Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.) Grade and High School. His marriage to the former Alma Ystad took place July 5, 1916 at Greenwood, and she survives him.

He had operated a farm in the Greenwood area until 1932, when he moved to a farm in the town of Hoard (Clark Co.), retiring in 1961, but continuing to reside on the farm.

He was a member of St. Paul's American Lutheran Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four sons, Adrian, Villa Grove, Illinois, John, Curtiss, Kenneth, Winona, Minnesota, and Neil, Marshfield; two daughters, Mrs. Henry (Virginia) Dassow (?), Owen, and Mrs. Norman (Carol) Olson, route 1, Curtiss; two brothers, Leland, Neillsville, and LeRoy, Boyd; 25 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were a daughter, a brother, and a sister.
