Alger, Rosella M. "Rosie" (26 MAY 1934 – 18 FEB 2019)

Rosella M. "Rosie" Alger, age 84, of Thorp, passed away at Clark County Rehab & Living Center, in Owen, on Monday, February 18, 2019. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, February 25, 2019, at St. Bernard- St. Hedwig Catholic Church in Thorp. Rev. Baskaran Sandhiyagu officiated, and burial followed in St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery, with Rosie's grandchildren serving as pallbearers. Visitation was held at Thorp Funeral Home on Sunday, February 24, 2019, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a 7:30 p.m. rosary service. Visitation was also held at the church, on Monday, from 9:30 a.m. until time of service.

Rosella Mae Dulek was born on May 26, 1934,' in Thorp, WI, to Leo and Veronica (Sokolowski) Dulek. She was raised on the family farm arid received' her education at Thorp area schools, graduating from Thorp High School in 1952. After completing her education, Rosie worked for a short time at the Thorp IGA grocery store. She was united in marriage to Richard L. "Dick" Alger on November 28, 1953, at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Thorp. She was a homemaker and farmwife until her retirement.

She was a member of St. Bernard-St. Hedwig Church where she was a very active member. Her faith was very important to her. Rosie was involved with the PCCW, actively taught CCD, and was the Director of Religious Education for more than 30 years.

She had many interests, but especially enjoyed cooking, watching the Packers and Brewers, and entertaining family and friends.

Rosie is survived by her children: Randy of Thorp, Rita Heiser of Beemer, NE, Ronald (Cindy) of Thorp, Renee (Allen) Marek of Thorp, Russell (Mitzy) of Thorp, Rodney (Lori) of Thorp, Roy of Thorp, Raymond (Rochelle) of Wausau, Rhonda Alger of Thorp; 25 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard, on December 6, 2013; her son-in-law, Brian Heiser; her grandson, Paul Marek; her granddaughter, Tracy Alger; her great-grandson, Mason Marek; three brothers: Ronald, Clarence and Wilbur Dulek; and one sister, Lorraine Thompson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Thorp Catholic School, 411 E. School Street, Thorp, WI 54771.
