Welker, Joan M. (7 JAN 1940 - 27 FEB 2019)

Joan M. Welker, age 85, formerly of Owen, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2019, at Dycora Transitional Health and Living in Abbotsford.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 6, 2019, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Owen. Father Baskaran Sandhiyagu will preside. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Withee. Family and friends are welcome from 10 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at the church.

The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Owen is entrusted with the arrangements.

Joan was born on July 13, 1933, the daughter of Orville “Bud” and Lenore (Knaack) Welker in Owen. She graduated from Owen High School in 1951. Joan attended the College of Medical Technology in Minneapolis. She worked at the Colby clinic as a laboratory and x-ray technician.
Joan loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. She also enjoyed bowling and was fan of the Brewers and Cubs. Joan was a member of the Boom Town Snow Chasers and enjoyed snowmobiling.

Joan is survived by her brother, Dean (Charmaine) Welker of Wausau; two nieces: Michelle (Steve) Peter and their daughter, Bailey of Ringle, and Deann Roble and her children, Austin, Ashlyn and Ethan of Nekoosa; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Joan’s family would like to extend their gratitude for the care she received by all the staff at Dycora these past few years.
