Wakeen, Faye Marie (13 JUN 1970)

St. James Catholic Church, Wausau, was the scene of the marriage Saturday of Miss Faye Marie Wakeen and Gerald John Werner. The Rev. Fred A. Kulovits performed the 2 o'clock ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Emil A. Wakeen (newspaper said Kakeen), 1024 Steuben Street, Wausau, and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward J. Werner, Dorchester (Clark Co., Wis.).

Presented by her father, the bride wore a soft sata-peau empire styled A-line gown, going into a cage back and built in chapel train with a borer of Swiss lace. The lace also accented the rounded neckline and appliques of individual floral designs in Venice lace trimmed the bodice and long puffed sleeves and center bottom of the train. Her headpiece of Venice lace held the cathedral length veil. The bridal flowers were gardenias and stephanotis.

Sister JoAnn Werner, O.S.F., served as maid of honor, and Mrs. Bruce Hulke and Misses Mary and Terri Wakeen (newspaper said Kakeen) were bridesmaids. All are from Wausau.

Their gowns were of aqua chiffon over taffeta in A-line design. Venice lace trimmed the empire waistlines and the dresses had a chiffon Watteau in back and short puffed sleeves. Open-topped veiled hats with Venice lace appliques completed their ensembles. They carried aqua tinted carnations, baby mums and baby's breath.

Wedding music was by organist, Miss Ann Krieg, singers, Sister Roberta Steiner, Sister Joselda Kuhle, Mike Erickson and Mike Schoenherr, and guitarist, Mark Krause.

Serving as best man was R. Lou Kraus of York, Pennsylvania, and groomsmen were Richard C. Warwick of Barron, Joe M. Werner and Philip T. Werner, both of Wausau. Ushers were Wayne and Paul Wakeen, both of Wausau.

Following the nuptial mass the reception and dinner were at the Holiday Inn.

After a wedding trip to northern Wisconsin, the couple will live in Superior, where the groom is a senior at WSU, Superior. He is majoring in sociology and psychology. He is a graduate of Colby High School.

The bride graduated from Newman High School, Wausau, and attended Marathon County Extension School. She has been employed by General Telephone Company.
