Robert J. Cance, age 92, of Stanley, WI passed away on Tuesday, August 24, 2010, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Chippewa Falls, WI.

Bob was born January 27, 1918, in the Town of Delmar to the late John & Mary (Korn) Cance. He grew up in the Stanley area and graduated from Stanley High School in 1937. In 1941, he joined the U.S. Army and proudly served his country during WWII.

On June 14, 1943, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Janssen at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Stanley, WI. Upon his discharge from the service the couple settled in Stanley where Bob worked at the Studebaker Garage and later at Northern Auto Supply as a machinist.

Bob is survived by his wife, Dorothy of Chippewa Falls, WI; and sons, John (Iris) Cance of Tucson, AZ, Thomas Cance of Irma, WI, Joel (Nancy) Cance of Winneconne, WI, and Mark (Sue) Cance of Chippewa Falls, WI; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one sister, Ellen Sweeney of Marinette, WI.

He was preceded in death by his son, Robert Cance Jr. in 1992; and two brothers, Edmund & Alex Cance.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 28, 2010, at 1:00 p.m. at the Plombon Funeral Home, Stanley, WI, with Fr. Joseph Raja officiating. Burial will follow in the Holy Family Catholic Cemetery, Stanley, WI.

Friends and family may call from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.

The family requests memorials to be given to the Stanley Historical Society or St. Bridget's Catholic Church, 412 S. Main St. Chippewa Falls, WI, 54729.
