Thieme, Arthur E. (6 JAN 1910 – 30 OCT 1974)

Funeral services for Arthur E. Thieme, 64, of Curtiss (Clark Co., Wis.), were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, November 4, 1974 at St. Paul’s American Lutheran Church, Curtiss. The Rev. Roger Tellock, pastor, officiated, with burial being made in Pine Hill Cemetery, rural Curtiss.

Vocal selections were rendered during the service by Bruce Kloke, who was accompanied by Donna Schmidt at the organ.

Serving as pallbearers were Dale Thompson, Arlan Hamm, Franklin Kraut, Ben Sczypioroski, and Eino Walkama.

Mr. Thieme died at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 30, 1974 at the Clark County Hospital, Owen, where he had been a resident for several weeks.

Born January 6, 1910 in the town of Hoard (Clark Co.), Mr. Thieme attended grade school in Curtiss and at the age of 15 worked in a Curtiss blacksmith shop. He later farmed in the town of Hoard until 1933, when he moved to a farm in the town of Frankfort, Marathon County.

In 1938 he returned to the Curtiss area, town of Hoard, where he farmed and did blacksmith work until 1972. He then moved to the village of Curtiss, where he operated a blacksmith shop until his retirement.

He was married to the former Alvina Theilig on April 27, 1932, at the Green Grove Lutheran Church in the town of Colby. She survives him.

Other survivors include three sons, Alvin, Marshfield, Arnold, Owen, and Norman, Stratford; three daughters, Mrs. Richard (Pearl) Mengel, and Mrs. Art (LaVerna) Marcott, both of Curtiss, and Mrs. Lester (Annette) Frahman, Shelton, Washington; 32 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

He was a member of St. Paul’s American Lutheran Church.
