Buresh, La Verne W. (20 OCT 1939 – 4 DEC 2019)

La Verne W. Buresh, 80, of Stanley, passed away on December 4, 2019, at Marshfield Medical Center in Eau Claire, WI with his family at his side. He was born on October 20, 1939, at home in the Town of Worden to the late William and Edna (Stelter) Buresh. La Verne graduated from Memorial High School in Eau Claire and was drafted into the Army where he served from 1963- 1965 in Germany. After returning from duty he met and married Christine "Tina" Fijalkiewicz on August 30, 1969, at St. Mary of Czestochowa Catholic Church in Junction. The couple went on to have four children and raise them on the family's farm.

Vernie worked at American Motors in Kenosha, Stanley Corp., Presto Industries, Radiant Constructions, and Industrial Fabricators for 27 years until his retirement in 2001. Vernie and Tina belong to St. Mary of Czestochowa Catholic Church, and St. Bernard-St. Hedwig in Thorp. He was a member of the Thorp American Legion, Jump River Runners and J Stanley Snow Chargers Snowmobile Clubs and the Geezer Motor Cycle Riders Club.

He enjoyed many trips to Colorado elk hunting and deer hunting with his family. He also greatly enjoyed riding his Harley and taking snowmobiling trips up north with Tina and family.

Vernie is survived by his wife of 50 years, Tina; their four children: Tammy (Doug) Dahl of Sheldon, Tim Buresh of Stanley, Connie (Randy) Horn of Thorp, and Val (Jack) Balk of Lublin; twelve grandchildren: Colton Dahl, Jordon (Abby Wilbur) Dahl, Christine Dahl, Casey Olson, Cody (Jessica) Olson, Brian Nitz, Corey (Mallory) Buresh, Mike Buresh, Kayla (David Skallet) Hoffstatter, Jamie Hoffstattter, Brandon and Brianna Horn; eight great¬grandchildren: Lillianna, Lalah Dahl, Colt Olson, Braydon Olson, Leland Olson, Evan Buresh, Brecken Nitz and Elizabeth Skallet; siblings: Bruce (Joann) Buresh of Bloomer and Brenda (Chris) Melbinger of Florida. He is preceded in death by his parents; his mother-in-law and father-in-law; his grandchildren: Courtney and Sandi; great-granddaughter Kayden; his sisters: Lavonne Kinderman and Judy Nemitz; a brother, Dennis Buresh; and brothers-in-law: Bob Nemitz and Duane Venet.

A funeral service was held on Monday, December 9, 2019, at 11 a.m., at St. Mary of Czestochowa Catholic Church in Junction with Father Baskaran Sandhiyagu officiating. Grandchildren were pallbearers. Burial followed at the church cemetery. Visitation was on Sunday at Plombon Funeral Home from 2-5 p.m. and one hour prior to service at the church on Monday.
