Falk, Verne S. (14 JAN 1911 – 5 APR 1975)
Funeral services were held at 10:00 Tuesday morning at the Holy Rosary Catholic
Church, Owen, for Verne S. Falk. Fr. George Becker of the parish officiated at
the final rites, with burial being made in Riverside Cemetery (rural Withee).
Serving as pallbearers were Walter Kelly, Alfred Ciokiewicz, Larry Ciokiewicz,
Larry Falk, Daniel Ciokiewicz, and Lawrence Clark.
Mr. Falk, 64, a single man, was found dead in his home Saturday forenoon by a
relative, and authorities ruled that he had suffered a death of natural causes,
suffering an apparent heart attack.
He was born January 14, 1911 in Poland. He spent most of his boyhood in Owen
(Clark Co., Wis.), where he lived with his parents, and was a graduate of the
school system. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the European Theatre
of Operations. After his discharge he served as a chef in Chicago, Winona, and
Rochester, Minnesota. He had made his home in Owen the past years, having come
here April 1 of 1974.
His sudden passing is mourned by three sisters, Helen Fialkowski, Withee, Mrs.
Walter (Lottie) Kelly, Minnesota City, Minnesota, and Mrs. Tony (Gertrude)
Ciokiewicz, Owen, and two brothers, Alfred Falk of McHenry, Illinois, and John
Falk of Winona, Minnesota.
