Abigail Averill, daughter of Todd and Jill Averill, was selected as the Junior Kiwanian for November by the Neillsville Kiwanis Club.

“In selecting its Junior Kiwanian from the senior class of Neillsville High School, the club is fortunate to meet and interact with a group of students who excel in a wide range of academics, leadership positions, extracurricular activities, athletics and community involvement,” Kiwanian Brent Shoup wrote in a Nov. 13 press release. “Our November Junior Kiwanian, Abigail Averill … definitely fits that description with her extensive list of achievements.”

Averill has participated in the club’s November meetings.

“The members of the Neillsville Kiwanis Club welcome Abigail Averill as Junior Kiwanian,” Shoup wrote.

Averill is a member of the National Honor Society and the Spanish Honor Society. She is an officer in the high school’s Spanish club. She has also served as class president for three years and been on student council for three years. She has represented the school at Badger Girls State and is a member of the school’s history club and teen leadership council. Averill is also involved with the Big Buddy program.

Averill is also a two-time academic letter recipient, has competed in the National History Day competition and has been a member of the volleyball squad. She is also part-time clerk at Sniteman Pharmacy.

“Our community can take pride in her strong character and commitment to high standards for herself,” Shoup wrote.

Averill plans to attend the University of Wisconsin-Madison next year to major in economics.
