Kurasz, Joseph S. (30 July 1913 – 11 October 1975)

Funeral services were held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. from St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church for Joseph S. Kurasz, 62, of Rt. 2 Neillsville, who died October 11 at his home following a lingering illness. The Rev. Norman W. Lindloff officiated, and burial followed in the Neillsville City Cemetery. Arrangements were made by the Georgas-Gesche Funeral Home.

Joseph Kurasz, son of Martin and Victoria Ciesla Kurasz was born July 30, 1913, in Chicago, Il., and moved to the Neillsville area as a small boy, receiving his education in local schools.

His marriage to the former Esther Fenske took place October 24, 1936, in Neillsville. After their marriage, Mr. Kurasz worked in Eau Claire for a time, then returned to this area and farmed in the Town of Grant and in the Town of Pine Valley. The Kurasz’s moved to Neillsville five years ago and moved back to the home farm a year ago. Mr. Kurasz was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include six children, Mrs. George (Marjorie) Lund of Spokane, Wa., Stanley Kurasz of Morrison, Il., Mrs. Garold (Helen) Emerick of Marathon, Mrs. Dennis (Susan) Zickert of Morrison, Il., Thomas Kurasz of Milwaukee and Timothy Kurasz, at home; and 14 grandchildren. He is also survived by five brothers: John Kurasz of Skokie, Il., Andrew and William Kurasz of Neillsville, Harry Kurasz of New York, N.Y., and Victor Kurasz of Black River Falls.

Kurasz, Joseph S. (30 July 1913 – 11 October 1975)

Funeral services were held October 14 from St. John’s Lutheran Church for Joseph S. Kurasz, 62, of Rt. 2 Neillsville, who died Oct. 11 following a lingering illness. The Rev. Norman W. Lindloff officiated, and burial followed in the Neillsville City Cemetery. The Georgas-Gesche Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Frederick Stelter, Leonard Drescher, Elmer Northup, Paul Bieneck, Joe Kaczor and William Matousek.

St. John’s School choir sang “What a Friend We Have in Jesus” and “Be Still My Soul.” Sharon Weber was the accompanist.

Luck and Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Flegsted, Mineral Point; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Grosklaus and Mr. and Mrs. Edward Hanusa, Reedsburg; Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Michael and Harold Fenske, Madison; William Holt, Rice Lake.
