Fijalkiewicz, Joseph B. (24 AUG 1894 – 18 SEP 1972)

Joseph B. Fijalkiewicz, age 78, a former Stanley (Chippewa Co., Wis.) resident, passed away at the North Central Nursing Home in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Thursday, September 28, 1972.

He was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania on August 24, 1894, son of Ambrose and Mary Fijalkiewicz. He went to the Stanley area when he was 16 years old. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I, and on May 21, 1918 he was united in marriage to Jennie Gulczynski. After their marriage he was an insurance salesman in Stanley for about ten years. He then moved to Minneapolis where he worked as a bookkeeper for many years. He has lived there since.

He is survived by his wife, Jennie of Stanley; two sons, George of Greenwood, Wis., and Frank of Oak Lawn, Illinois; two daughters, Mrs. Jack (Gina) Buhr of Chicago, and Mrs. Albert (Helen) Rohland of Curtiss, Wisconsin; twelve grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; one brother, John of Stanley, and six sisters, Mrs. Anna Kavanagh, Mrs. Josephine Prussman, and Mrs. Arthur (Stella) Lemerman, all of Chicago, Illinois, Mrs. John (Catherine) Glazowski of Niles, Illinois, and Mrs. Joseph (Laura) Leja of Stanley. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and three sisters.

Funeral services were held Saturday, 10 a.m. at Holy Family South Catholic Church, Stanley, with Father Joseph Marx officiating. Burial was in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
