Esther Gebert (24 May 1900 – 1985)

Mrs. Henry (Esther M) Gebert, 85, Dorchester, died at 8:05 p. m. at the Memorial Nursing Home, Medford, where she had resided since 1979.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Louis Catholic Church. The Rev. James Schaefer will officiate. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Burial will be in Dorchester Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be after 3:30 p.m. Thursday at Maurina Funeral Home, Dorchester, where there will be a Ladies Altar Society Rosary at 4 p.m. and a parish rosary at 8 p.m.

The former Esther Rhymer was born May 24, 1900 in Appleton, to Jacob and Frances (Boehler) Rhymer. She attended Taylor County Normal School in Medford.

She was married to Henry Gebert November 26, 1918, in Stetsonville. They farmed in the Town of Deer Creek until 1932, then moved to a farm in the Town of Holton, where they farmed and also operated Heinie’s Place on their farm. Her husband died July 22, 1980. She was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church and its Ladies Altar Society

Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Herman (Lucille) Sebold, Marshfield, Mrs. John (Jeannette) Robida, Dorchester, Mrs. Eugene (Greta) Ross, Neillsville, and Mrs. Peter (Luanne) Wanke, Medford; two sons, Raymond, Columbus. Ohio, and Clarence (Bud), Clintonville; one sister, Mrs. Lucille Gallistel, Ogema, 33 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren, one great-great- granddaughter.

Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her parents, six brothers, one sister, and three grandchildren.
