LOYAL — Milan "Mike" Joseph Matanic, 82, brother of John Matanic, Kay Enfield, Mary Shimkus, Helen Arnold and Louise Linzmeier, all of Wisconsin Rapids, died Saturday, July 31, 1993, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield.

Services will be Tuesday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church. The Rev. Roman Kaiser will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Matanic was born Sept. 29, 1910, in Croatia, to Joseph and Katherine (Paun) Matanic. He married Angela Wegreke Sept. 14, 1935, in Chicago.

He came to the United States at the age of 2 and received his education at Audobon School, Clark County town of Sherwood. He farmed with his family in the Sherwood area and later was employed by Wisconsin Steel in Chicago for 17 years. In 1946, Matanic moved to Loyal, where he purchased a machine shop. He served on the city council for 18 years.

Survivors also include his wife: one son, Mike (Virginia) of Maple Plain, Minnesota; one daughter, Connie (Joe) Voight, Wausau; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one other brother, Pete of Chicago; and two other sisters, Ann Rollins, Marshfield, and Rose Speller, Chicago. He was predeceased by his parents.

Friends may call at the Rinka Funeral Home today.
