Margaret Brost (13 Jun 1903 - 07 Jun 2001)

Margaret C. Brost, 97, Medford, died Thursday, June 7 at her home while under hospice care.

Funeral Services were held on Monday, June 11 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford, with Revs. Dennis Meulemans and Frederick Brost officiating. Burial took place at Medford Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers were her grandchildren, Randy Mayer, Peggy Frey, Joel Brost, Ann Bishop, Jeff Brost, Lorin Dettmering, Peter Brost and Mark Brost.

Hemer Funeral Home of Medford assisted the family with arrangements.

The former Margaret Enders was born June 13, 1903 at Rib Lake to the late Lambert and Margaret (Hambach) Enders. She attended Rib Lake schools. She moved to Medford from Rib Lake in 1921. She lived in Milwaukee for a period of time, then returned to Medford and was employed at the George Heimerl store.

Her marriage to Anton J. Brost, who preceded her in death on April 30, 1969, took place on August 12, 1925 at Medford. She assisted her husband in the Gelhaus & Brost auto garage business.

She was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church and Ladies of Holy Rosary, a 70-year member of Catholic Family Life, and Historic St. Ann’s in the Town of Greenwood. She enjoyed gardening, knitting, crocheting, and playing cards.

Survivors include three daughters, Arlyle Meyer, Green Bay, and Margaret “Peg” (Bob) Tuma and Marlene Dettmering, both of Medford; five sons, Lambert “Red” (Adeline), LeRoy, Vernon, Thomas and Allen (Joanne), all of Medford; 44 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Rita Werner, three grandchildren; four brothers; and five sisters.

The family requests memorials in her name be made to Holy Rosary Social and Education Center or Hope Hospice.
