Thomas, Hazel Irene (1 July 1897 – 2 January 1976)

A former Clark County resident, Mrs. Hazel Irene Thomas, 78, of Hudson Memorial Hospital Convalescent Home, Hudson, died January 2, following an extended illness. Funeral services were held January 6 at Mt. Pisgah Wesleyan Methodist Church, rural Ontario, with the Rev. Charles Anderson officiating. Interment was in Billings Creek Cemetery, rural Ontario. Arrangements were by the Kramer Funeral Home, Hudson.

The daughter of Julius and Della Wise Reed, Mrs. Thomas was born July 1, 1897, in Beetown, Grant County. She also lived in Dane and Clark counties, and had been a Hudson resident since 1962. Her marriage to William J. Thomas took place October 6, 1942 in Lancaster. Mr. Thomas died December 22, 1970.

Survivors include three sisters, Mrs. Russell (Helen) Deakins of Lancaster, Mrs. Edward (Ina) Stohlmeyer of Potosi and Mrs. Henry (Julia) Aanonson of Lancaster; nieces and nephews, an aunt and an uncle of Grant County and Dubuque, Ia. She is also survived by five stepchildren, Lze L. Thomas of Loxley, Al., Mrs. Norman (Opal F.) Noble of San Diego, Ca., Arnold E. Thomas of Greenwood, Doyle E. Thomas of Evansville and Robert E. Thomas of Hudson; and by 19 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
