Meredith, Maurice W.(10 December 1896 – 28 February 1976)

A Clark County resident for the past 50 years, Maurice W. Meredith of Memorial Home, died Saturday, February 28, at the age of 79. Funeral services were held Monday at 3:30 p.m. from the Georgas-Gesche Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary Clark of the United Church of Christ officiating. Burial followed in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

The son of William and Mary Ann Flannery Meredith, Maurice Meredith was born December 10, 1896, in Kenosha County and was educated in schools there. He moved to the Tioga area, where he farmed in 1926. His marriage to the former MayBelle Lightfoot took place July 14, 1931, at Winona, Mn. Mrs. Meredith preceded her husband in death on October 11, 1963.

Mr. Meredith worked for the Clark County Highway Department until his retirement in 1962. He was a member of the United Church of Christ.

Survivors include three children, Mrs. John (Alice) Flitter of St. Paul, Mn., Mrs. Roland (Janet) Jenni and Thomas Meredith, both of Neillsville; two sisters, Rose Meredith and Ruth Meredith, both of Greenwood; and 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers were Roland Jenni, John Flitter, Phil Jenni, Douglas Flitter, Weldon Reichert and Jerry Laatch.

Mrs. Betty Schultz was the soloist.
