Wilger, Clarence J. (1 November 1909 – 20 March 1976)

Former State Rep. Clarence J. Wilger, 66, a native of Neillsville, died unexpectedly Saturday, March 20, at his rural Elkhorn home. Services were held March 22 from St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Elkhorn, with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

Mr. Wilger was elected to the office of Walworth County Rep. to the Assembly in 1966, and subsequently served as an assemblyman for three terms, retiring in 1972. He was named chairman of the conservation committee in 1970. Prior to entering politics, Mr. Wilger spent 23 years with the old Wisconsin Conservation department, being employed as a conservation warden in Green Bay before coming to Walworth County.

Born November 1, 1909, in Neillsville to Nicholas and Anna Ziglinski Wilger, he married the former Florinne White on January 23, 1932, in Milwaukee.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two daughters, Mrs. Thomas Coblentz of Rockford, Il., and Mrs. James Gaskell of Madison and eight grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Mrs. Alyce Gitchell of Milwaukee, and by a brother, Leo, in Arizona.
